Church School Vision

Church School Vision

One community where we cultivate, grow and flourish together.

Berry Pomeroy Parochial CE Primary School is a voluntary controlled Church of England primary school, part of the Diocese of Exeter.

Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles and practice of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church in the parish and diocese. Our church school vision originates from the parable of the sower of seed (Matthew 13: 1–9, 18–23).

The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian Belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significant of faith, and promotes Christian values through experiences it offers to all its pupils.

As a voluntary controlled (VC) school, the daily worship within the school will follow the Anglican tradition of school worship and will contribute to the sense of community and strong Christian ethos that is a feature of Anglican schools. The governing body will include two foundation governors nominated by the Church and the local authority.

Our Foundation Governors are:

Mrs Val Hoare

As a church school at the heart of the village community, Christian values underpin our work, our relationships and our commitment to ensure equality of opportunity for all pupils. We will strive to make our school welcoming, open and friendly with a positive Christian ethos where the views of the children and parents are valued.

Our local church is Berry Pomeroy Church.

Reverend Debbie regularly leads worship. She is supported by Tony Gregg and Reverend Jane.Open the Book, a bible story group are regular visitors.
