At Berry Pomeroy CE Parochial Primary School, we are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs or abilities. We consider that the needs of the individual child are key to their learning success.
Children’s progress is regularly monitored and assessed and careful records are kept. Sometimes we find that a child does not make the progress we expect and when this happens, we talk with parents and appropriate steps are put in place to support the child.
The schools SEND co-ordinator is the Headteacher who liaises with staff and other agencies where appropriate. The school allocates resources for pupils with special educational needs as required.
The procedure for individual identification, individual assessment arrangements and regular reviews are as follows:-
• Information assisting identification of SEND may be available from a number of sources including records from previous schools, information from parents or parental concerns.
• Concerns from the pupils themselves, or results of part National Curriculum assessments and information from class teachers.
• Observational analysis, particularly in the case of emotional/behavioural difficulties, relevant parental views, support agencies and where relevant, the views of the child.
